How Lantore works
Listens in only when your child chats. Tells you only when it matters.
Here is exactly what happens between a message appearing on your child's screen and an alert reaching you, and where your child's data goes at every step.
Step by step
1. You set it up with your child
You create an account, add your child (name and birth year), choose what to monitor, set a parent PIN, install Lantore on their Windows PC, and pair it with a short one-time code. The setup takes about five minutes, and it is designed to be done together: there is a first-run notice for your child, and the Lantore icon stays visible in the system tray.
2. Lantore listens in only when your child takes part
Lantore is engagement-first. It reads chat and voice only while your child is taking part (typing in a chat or speaking in a voice session) and for a few minutes afterwards. It does not read what other players say when your child is not involved, and typing outside chat (documents, searches, passwords) is never captured.
When your child is taking part, Lantore captures the screen from the outside, finds the chat box, and reads the text on the PC itself. If you turn them on, it also reads what your child types into that chat, and can turn voice into text. Password fields and apps you exclude are never read. Lantore does not inject into, hook, or read the memory of any game.
3. Names and details are replaced before anything leaves
Still on the PC, usernames become Player 1, Player 2, and personal details like phone numbers and addresses are masked. Lantore keeps a short, encrypted buffer of tiny screenshots (about 30 minutes) on the PC only. Raw chat text and audio never leave the machine.
4. A quick automated check, then forgetting
The redacted text goes to Lantore's cloud for a fast automated check. If nothing is concerning, the text is discarded the moment the check ends. We keep only a text-free log (when, how risky, what category) for 30 days so we can show you Lantore is working.
5. If something is flagged, you get a calm alert
A closer automated review writes the title, a plain-language reason, and suggestions for starting the conversation. The short excerpt behind it is saved for up to 90 days (you can delete it sooner). Notifications say only that something needs your attention, never the chat itself.
An example alert. Moving a chat to another app is the pattern; other warning signs in the same conversation raise how urgent the alert is.
6. You can ask to see more
Screenshots from around the flagged moment can be fetched from the PC, and you can ask for more. They stay blurred until you choose to reveal them, and they are deleted after 30 days.
7. If Lantore cannot see, it says so
Anti-cheat software and some fullscreen modes can blank screen capture. When that happens Lantore reports it, so a quiet dashboard never means more than it should.
Matched to their age
What you see depends on how old they are
| Age | What you see | What your child is told |
|---|---|---|
| Under 10 | The flagged conversation with surrounding context | That Lantore is installed and why |
| 10 to 12 | A summary and a short excerpt | Which topics Lantore watches, and a log of alerts about them |
| 13 to 15 | Urgent and some serious alerts, minimal excerpt | The same, plus what is reported about them |
| 16 to 17 | Urgent and emergency alerts only, minimal excerpt | The same, with the strongest privacy defaults |
Lantore is for children under 18. We do not offer a version for monitoring adults.
Built so that it cannot be misused quietly
- A permanent, visible tray icon and a "what is monitored" window for your child

- You confirm you are a parent or guardian, and that you will tell your child
Kept deliberately small
- No cloud copy of ordinary conversations, ever
