This page is for you, an adult who chose to put Lantore on your own PC to protect yourself. It is shown to you on the PC before Lantore starts, and you accept it there. It is a plain-language beta draft that is pending legal review. It is part of the privacy notice.
What Lantore looks at
- In the games and chat apps it watches, Lantore keeps a short picture history of the chat area of your screen (not the whole screen): about the last 8 minutes. It stays on this PC, encrypted, and is deleted automatically.
- When you type in a chat, Lantore reads the chat from that history: from about 5 minutes before your typing to about 5 minutes after, including what other people wrote in that chat in that time.
- If you allow it, it reads what you type into chat boxes (password fields are skipped). It also notes which keys are pressed in a game, only to tell chatting from playing. Those key statistics are counts per key per day, kept encrypted on this PC for 30 days and not uploaded. If you turn the typing permission off, Lantore cannot tell when you start chatting in a game, so chats inside games are not watched (chat apps still are).
- If you turn voice on where it is allowed, it turns voice chat into text on this PC and throws the audio away.
- It notes which app or website was open, so an alert can say where something happened.
- Names and personal details are replaced on this PC before anything is sent. An automated check looks for the kinds of things that harm adults online: scams and romance or investment fraud, sextortion and threats to expose you, pressure and coercion, grooming-style manipulation, harassment and threats, and signs that you may be in distress or thinking of harming yourself. Ordinary adult conversation, including flirting and consensual relationships, is not a concern.
What it does not do
- It does not record or save audio and does not use your webcam. It is made to skip password fields, but a password shown as plain text on the screen could be read, so avoid showing passwords in chats.
- Lantore does not offer any setting that sends alerts, conversations or screenshots to anyone else. The AI service that helps write an alert does not keep it, and we may be required to disclose information by law.
- It does not run hidden. The icon stays in your system tray and you can open the Lantore window at any time.
- It does not keep your ordinary conversations: if the check finds nothing concerning, the conversation is forgotten.
- It does not sell your data, show ads or use your chats to train AI models. Lantore staff do not read your chats as part of running the service. A small number of engineers can look at stored information for security, help and legal reasons, and that access is logged.
Who sees what
- Only you. When something looks like a real concern, an AI service run by our providers under contract writes a short alert to you: what happened, why it was raised, what to do and where to get free help. The alert is delivered to this PC through an encrypted queue and then deleted from our servers (at most 24 hours later in any case). Nobody else is notified, we offer no page where anyone can read it, and no screenshots or conversation logs are uploaded.
- Your alerts stay on this PC, encrypted, for 30 days unless you delete them sooner. A few small pictures and the redacted chat around an alert may be kept with it. You can delete all of it in the Lantore window at any time. It is deleted when Lantore is uninstalled or when you remove this PC from your account.
- A Windows notification may show an alert's title (a general text for sensitive alerts), and Windows can keep it in this PC's notification history.
- You may have installed from a one-time link in your account. It only tells the installer which of your profiles to set up, it works once, and we delete the record of it 7 days after it is used or expires.
- Your account (the email you signed up with) can see that Lantore is running, the PC's health and version, and which permissions are on. It is not shown any alert or conversation.
- If you are protected by a guardian who handed over to you at 18, that guardian has no access to anything of yours.
Talking to someone
Lantore only prompts you. Nothing is reported to anyone for you. If something online feels wrong, stop replying, do not send money or pictures, keep the messages, tell someone you trust, and use the report and block tools in the app. Each alert lists free help options for your region (crisis lines and places to report scams or exploitation). In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
You are in control
You can switch permissions off in your account, which takes effect straight away and may stop monitoring. You can uninstall Lantore at any time, with no one's permission (you may set a PIN for yourself if you want one). You can export or delete your data from your account. Accepting this notice is a record that you were told what Lantore does. Your consent to each purpose is recorded separately in your account.
